Finished piece for modern eden's group show "Memento Mori" August 20th

Mortality is something I, as I'm sure most people, think about on a frequent basis. The unknown, unanswered, inevitable future that ties us all together can be quite frightening at times. We comfort ourselves with our ghost story's, near death experiences, and our dreams of lost loved ones telling us they are happily waiting in some indescribably beautiful place beyond the naked eye. But the oh so quickly developing world around us, blunders forward at a million miles a minute with its newly found logic and answers to all of our hopes and so-calledillusions. Every year, more is discovered on what really makes us tick, why we are the way we are, and why we act the way we act. This advanced intelligence is obviously formulated to pull us out of the old school, middle-aged way of thinking. It's supposed to help us to understand the true underlying fate we all face; and how long we've got before we do. But sometimes I feel it just leaves us feeling all the more hopeless and confused.

This is Marlow the art-loving spider. Marlow enjoys long walks on the beach, eating nats, and watching translucently pale females undress from a convenient perch above their windows (of which said females cannot reach to destroy him). One day, feeling deprived of reference material for his artistic endeavors, Marlow ventured from the safety of his unreachable hideout to smell the sweet contents laid out below the windowsill. Once stepping upon the many books that reeked with secret inspirational pleasures, Marlow let a single tear fall from his beady little eyes. With three kids, a mortgage, and a wife that just doesn't understand or support his hopes and dreams of becoming the world’s first finger painting spider, he feels lost and alone in this hopeless world. Distracted by his sense of emptiness and regrets of past decisions made, Marlow did not notice the advance of his human female counterpart…oh Marlow, such a pointless life you have lived. Perhaps one day the world will understand. Goodbye Marlow and Good luck.

A few weeks back I spotted a baby crib out on clay st. awaiting the garbage truck. The panels were too awesome to give up so with the help of a friend(thanks sara!) we unscrewed these two suckers and carried them back to my apartment. Can't wait to paint them!

One of my top favorite artists Camille Rose Garcia is about to embark on a book tour for her illustrated rendition of Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland". She'll be in S.F on March 8th. Here are some photos of her work/ work in progress.

While visiting the family during christmas, I received a camera to take better photos of my work. Of course, all I did the first week after receiving said camera was take photos of my brothers cat.

I watched "New York, I love you" last night. This was my favorite scene from it. So cute.

Art House has put together this project titled "The Sketchbook Project". If you sign up you get a blank moleskin sketchbook sent to you with a theme attached. It's to be sent back to Art House before December 1st to be included in a traveling show for all eternity (umm, well at least for a while)! I received mine in the mail today and my theme is "It's not easy being green". Which of course reminded me of....

Oh and yay it's October! I bought these werewolf gloves in Walgreens for $1.99. Thank God for glow in the dark children's gloves and my uncanny ability to wear them backwards.

I miss my walks around the city/water, will have to make time for them soon somehow. It's not you San Francisco, it's me.

All holidays warm at least one cockle of my heart, but Halloween takes the cake. It's the build up that I love! The weather, the smell, the creepy television specials/movies, the decorations.

"Monolithic Cloud Parade" has caught my ear lately. Why? Because their songs "Free to fear", "What Big Teeth (Pts. 1&2)" & "Airplanes Full of Flames" inspired me to do some ink work, like the little vamp above. Who doesn't love to be inspired? Check out their album...

A few weeks ago I was able to participate in 111 Minna Gallery's "Sketch Tuesday". You pretty much go, draw some quick sketches, and sell them for reasonable prices. I was able to get about five decent sketches done. Here are some shots.

I have just recently been introduced to this artist Ken Garduno. I love his style and simple grey scale. I think his work would translate well in a comic too. One day I'll have to save up to purchase one of his pieces.

Speaking of buying art, I have a picture of the first piece I've ever purchased from a show. It's still the only piece I have so far. But I love her, I got her at Gallery 1988 at their plushy show. These plushies are created by Lori Brown. She gives different names and occupations to all of them! Mine is a "Dulcet" named Maryann.

I will have a piece in the show "Curious Odysseys" at the CAVE Gallery in Venice, California. June 12th. I'll also have a few pieces in their July 3rd show "Just Because". Here are a few work in progress shots of one of the pieces for July 3rd.

I also went apartment hunting this past week and found the PERFECT place. It had a den with a walk in closet included! The den was big enough for my bed so i could make the actual bed room a full on office! Woot woot right? It was ground floor but the windows were high, we made sure..

Of course, someone else got it. But that means it's not meant to be right? I'll find better right? Right??? Maybe I really am meant to move to another city after all....

I FINALLY got a new scanner. It's a large format scanner so it scans around the size 11x17. Sweet Jesus thank you. For the price I got it, it actually scans fairly well. (Mustek $180)

I decided to scan some things just to see how everything would turn out. I scanned my piece "They are waiting" and a color rough I did for my "Snow Queen" piece.This is what I got...
